Changes to our Free plan

A lot's happened at Whereby in the past year. Our user base, as well as our company, has grown to a size that none of us could have imagined a year ago. Which means we've got to make a few small changes.

A lot's happened at Whereby in the past year. Our user base, as well as our company, has grown to a size that none of us could have imagined a year ago. Which means we've got to make a few small changes.

Bigger, better meetings

Many of you have been saying that you want to host bigger meetings on a Free plan. And that you need certain features to work more collaboratively and creatively.

For the past few months, we've been working to find a balance between delivering great new features and larger meetings – while adding better value for our paying customers, too.

So, from today, Whereby users on Free plans can host up to 50 people in a video meeting.

Introducing time limits

But we're also a business. Providing video meetings costs money, so we need to charge for some services – and give extra value to customers that pay for our Pro and Business plans.

This means we can offer all users bigger meetings and more features, like Breakout Groups. And you'll still be able to enjoy unlimited video calls with one other person.

How does it work?

Two-person video calls will still be unlimited. When a third person enters the meeting, a timer will start and the call will end after 45 minutes. You'll be able to see the time throughout the call so there are no nasty surprises. We'll also warn you when there are 5 minutes left of the call.

You can remove the time limits at any time by upgrading to a Pro or Business plan, for as little as $9.99 a month. We'll even let you try the Business plan for free for 7 days.

How many people can I host in a meeting?

You can host up to 50 people in a meeting, with up to 12 people's video on screen at any time – on any plan. This 12-person video limit improves the quality of your meeting, ensuring a stable, higher quality conversation for everyone on the call.
