Over the last few years, the video conferencing landscape has evolved significantly. As user needs and market conditions have shifted, we're adapting our Whereby Meetings Free plan to continue providing the best possible experience for users while ensuring the sustainability of our service.
When we first launched our easy to use, browser-based meeting rooms, our mission was clear: to enable teams and professionals to connect seamlessly from anywhere.
Since Whereby's inception, we’ve offered a generous free plan that has connected people all over the world. But with new user needs, technological advancements, and changing global market dynamics, it's time to make some adjustments.
We’ve made continuous improvements to meeting quality as well as introduced new features like meeting diagnostics, additional language support, live chat improvements and so much more—all at no cost to you.
Now, we’re making necessary updates to our Free Meetings plan to ensure it continues serving its intended purpose: giving you a feel for Whereby’s capabilities in real-world scenarios before deciding to upgrade to our Pro or Business plans.
What’s changing in our Meetings Free plan?
Limiting rooms to 4 participants
A four-person limit ensures you can explore Whereby's core feature set and enables you to test out the experience with your colleagues or peers.
30-minute time limits
There will now be a 30 minute time limit for all meetings on Free plans. We believe this change still enables you to try out Whereby in your stand-ups or one-to-ones in a real-world setting.
Removal of Breakout Groups & Co-location Groups
Our Breakout Groups and Co-location groups features will no longer be available to users on Free subscriptions. If you wish to test these features, you can sign up for a 14 day free trial of our Business plan.
These changes will take effect for all Free Meetings accounts from 13th January 2025.
Why are we making the changes?
We understand this may disrupt your current set-up and how you are using Whereby. However, providing video services incurs costs, and in order to maintain the quality and reliability you expect, while keeping the lights (and cameras!) on, we need to balance our free offerings with sustainable pricing.
Whereby's Free Meetings Plan remains an excellent way to try Whereby, but for extended usage, we offer accessible pricing, starting at just $8.99 per month with no contracts or long term commitments required, and discounts if you pay annually.

Terms & Conditions
The promoter is Whereby AS.
The offer is valid for existing Free customers and customers currently on a Business plan trial who have not previously purchased a Whereby subscription.
The offer is valid on annual subscriptions on Whereby Meetings Pro plans only.
The offer entitles customers to a 15% discount based on the annual subscription cost.
To redeem the offer, the customer must enter the coupon code PRO2025 when signing up to a Whereby subscription online. The discount will be applied on the payment screen.
The offer code must be entered on the payment screen during sign up, it cannot be applied at a later date.
The code cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion.
Only one offer can be used per transaction.
Offer cannot be redeemed for cash, has no cash value, is not transferable and no change will be given.
The offer expires at 23:59pm CET on 31st January 2025.
